General Info

Le Gigot is a charming French restaurant located at 18 Cornelia St #1, New York, NY 10014, right in the heart of Greenwich Village. It is the kind of place that feels small, warm, and personal from the moment you step inside. Instead of trying to be loud or flashy, Le Gigot focuses on what makes a French bistro so enjoyable: comforting food, good wine, relaxed service, and a setting that feels made for slow conversations.

The atmosphere is one of the biggest reasons people are drawn to Le Gigot. It has a romantic, intimate feel that works beautifully for date nights, quiet dinners, and special evenings with someone close. The space feels cozy without feeling crowded, and the soft bistro-style mood gives the restaurant a classic New York charm. If you enjoy restaurants where the lighting, music, and table setting all help create the experience, this spot fits that mood well.

Food is the main reason to visit, of course, and Le Gigot keeps its menu rooted in savory French comfort. Duck confit is one of the standout dishes, offering the rich, tender flavor that makes this classic so loved. When prepared well, duck confit has that crisp outside and juicy inside that feels deeply satisfying, especially with a glass of wine on the side. Lamb is another highlight here, and it suits the restaurant’s traditional bistro identity perfectly. It is hearty, flavorful, and ideal for diners who want something more filling than a light café-style meal.

The menu also appeals to people who appreciate simple ingredients handled with care. Rather than overwhelming guests with too many trendy choices, Le Gigot leans into dishes that feel timeless. That is part of its appeal. You come here for French food that feels familiar, elegant, and comforting at the same time. Whether you are in the mood for duck, lamb, seafood, or another savory plate, the restaurant gives off the feeling of a neighborhood bistro that knows exactly what it does best.

As a wine bar, Le Gigot also makes a strong choice for guests who want to pair dinner with a bottle or glass of wine. French food and wine naturally belong together, and the restaurant’s relaxed pace makes it easy to enjoy both without feeling rushed. This makes the experience feel more complete, especially for a romantic dinner or a quiet evening after walking around the Village.

Le Gigot is especially appealing if you like intimate restaurants with character. It is not just about eating a meal; it is about settling into a cozy corner, enjoying rich French flavors, and letting the evening unfold at an easy pace. For anyone searching for a French bistro and wine bar in New York with duck confit, lamb, and a romantic setting, Le Gigot is a lovely spot to keep on the list.

“ Our first time there but won’t be the last time after their great service. Derrick was really nice and thourough with the menus and also special meals of the day off the menu. I got octopus off the menu. Believe me or not it was my first time having octopi and it was delicious. The lamb was so delicious ( seasoning was great) Highly recommended ”

“ We just finished an excellent meal at Gigot. Delicious endive salad. Fresh favs beans. Plentiful escargot with onions and herbs. The soft shell crabs were the best I’ve ever had. For dessert we had the profiterole. A wonderful night at this tiny, cute French restaurant tucked away on Cornelia street. ”
